This may not be related, but how did you get the "button bar" on top of your comment box? That's pretty cool.

Is this what this plugin does?

Yup! There is a small change in the readme I have to do because in v240RC2 the line to edit to make the link button work has moved, but yeah this plugin is what did the buttons.

Just a note on applying this plugin to the 2.4.0 RC2 release.

If you want to allow the LINK feature you now have to edit the following file ( instead of conf/_formatting.php )....

inc/xhtml_validator/_xhtml_dtd.inc.php
line no. app 494

Thanks John! I'm pretty sure I have that detail in the readme file, but (by definition) no one reads readmes

Shoulda put it up in the post, but heck it's here now so it's all good.

Great tool! Thanks !

But, in your readme it still says what you mention in your post.
"Remove the // in file whatnot"

It doesn't state what John points out.

And I can't find the file John mentions :S
(I'm using 2.2)
I don't have it in here:
b2/inc/xhtml_validator/

Help, please :)

I went to your web and viewed the source. Looks like you have v2.3.0-RC1, so that line should be in your conf_formatting.php file.

I don't know if this will actually work in 2.2.0 but it doesn't seem like that's your version so ???

With the line you mention in your instruction changed it didn't work.

And the line John mentioned I couldn't find.

But I will give it another go tomorrow.
Don't worry, somehow it will work or I come back ;)

The read me file says:

Replace it with this line:
'a' => $C_E_a_content, // TuringTest kills spam dead!!!

but there's a $ which doesn't belong there. It threw me off for a little bit until I saw it there.

I got it working after I remove that. This plugin be on the next b2evo release. It's a little great utility. I have yet to see this at other blog packages.

Thanks E.I.! I just updated the readme file and uploaded it, so the next person won't get tripped up over the same thing.

I didn't see the $ sign in the readme.

It still doesn't work for me.

Is there anything else I have to do, switch off or what?

I'm currently using 2.3

and still can't find the file anywhere that John mentioned :(
It's simply not there :(

Hi Nicole. It absolutely will work but don't put too much effort into it because it's easy. You have v230, so edit conf/_formatting.php and remove the // from the beginning of line 578. That's it! Don't worry about the $ character because it shows up in v240 when the stuff moves to a file your version doesn't have ;)

I updated the text above to show the differences, but the method remains the same: get rid of // at the start of the line to enable links in comments.

If you want, I'll send you the file appropriately modified in email.

If my backup ever finishes I will upgrade to 2.4 either today or tomorrow, then we can start all over again ;)

Thanks again for your help :)

I will come back to the offer :)

Funny, this things stays a bitch for me.

After I just upgraded and opened the formatting.php, I get to line 221 and after that is finito.

Now I'm really lost :)

EdB,

On 2.4.2, the line to edit is now 501 instead of 494.
