permalink Quick Text Plugin

Quick Text gives you (get ready for it) quick text when you post. Creative eh? So here's the deal: sometimes you write the same bit over and over, so why write it? Why not have a little button insert pre-written stuff for you? That's what motivated adding this to my list of tremendously useless plugins.

For an example of what this does, see the image below linked to the zip file with a bit of text telling you what you probably already knew? THAT is now a canned bit for my installation here. The only thing I have to do is put the actual file name into the bit my "Plugin DownLoad" button inserts. You probably won't have one of those buttons unless you make one because this plugin lets you can a bit of text AND create a label for the button that reminds you what's in the can.

Up to 5 pre-written (canned) bits of text, and you only see the buttons that have something in the can. Oh and you can set it up to allow all 5 or only 2 buttons to be "blogger specific". Still no good way to do "blog specific" yet, but that's a core thing. If I could do it that way I'd offer the option, but it can't so I don't.

Okay watch me throw down some canned text:

download the pluginDownload it, unzip it, upload it, install it via your Global Settings tab, then go to your Write tab to see this plugin do its thing. ... and read the readme!

Do you have footer spam? Grab your plugin, check your footer for links you don't think should be there, then come back and hit this page for the solution.

Nice... I was working on making something similar for v1.10 - to add a consistent credit line for crediting the source of links I use in articles.

I'm trying to figure out a way to automagically insert the code when I point to a graphic so that it renders w/ Lightbox. Would something like this do that for me?

Thanks for this EdB. I use it to generate long winded popup codes etc. I used Yabba's tip so it works with his show/hide stuff.
Cheers

Great plugin Edb, I have it installed along with a few others of yours. Looking forward to your next shiny new plugin :)

Gz

Is there any way of having more than 5 buttons on the Quick Text? Just for future use :)

perfect i was looking for this for some time ..

but i think adding container after the post would be more appropriate when it comes to add the same text each time at the end of the post

@Mike Coats: IF lightbox is something you repeatedly add to a post then yeah this'll work for that, but since I don't know about lightbox I can't be more specific than that.

@Gary: yeah I should increase the number of possible buttons. I picked 5 for whatever reason knowing someone would want 6 ... or 16 ... or a million and 6. One day, but no promises.

@ameo: you can add your bit at the end of each post if you want, and I'm pretty sure you can put a <div> in it, but to say "it will always add a container (div?)" wouldn't work for all skins so ... well ... it is what it is.
