TGI Fridays. Not exactly a place I tend to be but it was the only game in town I could get a sweet tooth type of desert thing out of. And I gotta tell ya: awesome! Noting that I am approaching 2 consecutive years of sobriety, the idea of a bar late at night didn't exactly appeal, but not a problem in the world in my head. Kinda neat, but not something I'll make a habit of.

A paltry 720 miles in 12 hours, so this half of this trip is going to take the amount of time it actually should take. I need to learn that just because I got away with it once doesn't mean that's the plan going forward. Plus a little older each time eh? So 2500 miles with only 2 overnights along the way just doesn't cut it. 600 a day is pretty good. 700 a day would be aggressive. 800 a day is madness. I was hoping for 2 900 mile days so the last leg through the tri-state area could be shorter and (by design) slower. Today was hampered by details that don't really matter because there is always details that "slow down" progress against an arbitrary and unrealistic goal. Suffice to say there ought to be a law that says if you are a gas station on the highway and you start to shut off coffee pots you also have to shut off your gas pumps and outside lights.

This pie is incredible. Almost gone, but wow what a pie. Almost worth time in a bar. Not quite, but almost.

Today's picture is a Peterbilt dealership along the highway. I am kinda curious about the little apartment trucks seem to all have now. The 3 on the right are the old-school style. Everything else is the cool new "truck plus secret truck driver space" Anyway I don't like timezones any more. I got on the road at 7:45 "my time" based on the dashboard clock, which I immediately set to 8:45 because I knew I slipped a timezone the day before. Then I found out somehow I slipped 2 timezones and it was actually 9:45. So 15 minutes into my day and 2 hours had already gone by.

Oh and did really good on the cigarette thing today. 2 before leaving the motel, then only 4 along the road (and none in the car).
